Ojai Gears up for its Annual Film Festival With a Festive Preview Party this Saturday

Ojai Film FestivalOjai, CA (Oct. 21, 2015) —   Join fellow film-, music-, art-, fun- and Ojai-fans this Saturday, October 24, 6:00-9:00 p.m. for the 2015 Ojai Film Festival (OFF) “SNEAK PEEK” fun & fundraising party at the Ojai Arts Center, 113 S. Montgomery St., Ojai, to celebrate the upcoming weeklong Ojai Film Festival (Nov. 5-15, 2015) with sneak peeks at featured films; dancing to musical entertainment by songstress/guitarist Jade Hendrix and Friends, including Kevin Van Ouwerk on drums, Ashley Broder on mandolin, David Comacho on bass, and Guil Juliao on guitar.  Partygoers may purchase food (all items $5) provided by Agave Maria’s Restaurant and Westridge Market Deli; beer and wine ($5 each) provided by OBC (Ojai Beverage Company); mint iced tea or bottled water ($1 each); and luscious lavender cookies by the new Ojai Lavender Cookie Company ($5 sm/$10 lg bags).

Other offerings include great raffle prizes (tickets start at $5); tarot card readings by Soul Centered Astrologer Sue Hines; and evolutionary chart readings by White Owl Astrologer Terri Quintel ($20/10 mins).

Party guests can view clips of the films to screen soon at the 2015 Ojai Film Festival (11-05 thru 11-15), which this year is the largest yet, featuring 82 juried films, culled from over 500 submissions from 83 countries.  With more films and fewer venues — (this is now the second year that OFF cannot host films in its most important and beloved venue, the Ojai Playhouse theater, thanks to extensive water damage and slow-to-nonexistent repairs by [ir]responsible party, Golden State Water Company) — the festival is extended to 10 days,  spanning two weekends of films, workshops, talks, presentations, seminars, receptions and more.  Additional films by local, student, environmental coalitions, and the Ojai Film Society will also screen.  Party guests can pre-purchase tickets to the 2015 Ojai Film Festival at Saturday’s “Sneak Peek” party; everyone else may buy tickets via the festival website www.ojaifilmfestival.com or take last-minute chances on tickets at venue doors before screenings.

Cookie fans and lavender lovers will be especially delighted to be among the very first to taste and purchase Ojai’s newest artisan specialty: Ojai Lavender Cookies, by the Ojai Lavender Cookie Company, making its official debut at the Ojai Film Festival party.  Cookie products can be found in Ojai gourmet and specialty shops over the next few weeks. Check www.facebook.com/lavendercookiesojai  for locations and information.

The $20 party cover charge will benefit the nonprofit OFF; guests may pay cover fee and/or purchase film festival tickets with cash or credit/debit cards; all other purchases at the party will require cash.  Everyone is invited to attend!  For more information, please visit www.ojaifilmfestival.com or call Maureen Volland at (717) 682-5189.
