Burbank Community YMCA

Kicks Off 90th Anniversary in 2014 With

‘90 Days to a New You’ Promotion

BURBANK, Calif. — Jan. 2, 2014 — For Immediate Release — The number-one New Year’s resolution is getting healthier. To mark the beginning of its 90th anniversary and to assist people in achieving their goals, the Burbank Community YMCA is offering a special 90 Days to a New You promotion that includes personal training and nutrition consultation, elements proven to make a new fitness regime a success.

With the purchase of a three-month, trial membership, the bonus-added program – available only in the month of January – includes three personal training sessions with a certified personal trainer (one 60- and two 30-minute sessions), a 30-minute nutrition consultation with a fitness nutrition specialist and a free commemorative 90th anniversary workout towel. Existing members can also purchase the $150 value package at a greatly reduced price.

“Studies have shown that the most successful weight loss and fitness regimes are those that are supported with a personalized program,” said JC Holt, CEO of the Burbank Community YMCA.  “We created this program with that in mind, highlighting the concierge service and community support the Y has always provided to its members.”

The YMCA is uniquely positioned to influence positive change in the nation’s ongoing health crisis.  Lifestyle-related disease is now responsible for more than 50% of American deaths.  Over 30% of our youth are overweight and possess early signs of diabetes or characteristics pointing to future heart disease.

When you join the Y, you become a member of a cause-driven, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the foundation of our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Everybody wants to live a healthy, active life and the Y knows how hard it can be to find the time and to keep the commitment. The Y offers support in a variety of areas, including fitness, nutrition and personal coaching.

Partnering with the Harvard and Stanford schools of medicine, the Center for Disease Control and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, the YMCA has studied the attributes of new and start/stop exercisers and fully understands their needs and how to support their quest for making healthier choices.  We have adopted new HEPA (Healthy Eating & Physical Activity) standards in all of our youth and family programs.

The Y has also partnered with experts from the American Psychological Association, helping Y instructors work with members to understand and overcome negative habits that can sabotage their best efforts. At the Y, you’ll enjoy a committed staff, welcoming environment and true desire to make a positive difference in your life. They want to help you set, reach and even exceed your healthy lifestyle goals.

The Burbank Community YMCA, which celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2014, has been an integral part of the community since opening its doors in 1924. Knowing that we have the greatest influence when we come together for the common good, the Burbank Y believes in healthy living, social responsibility and giving every child an equal opportunity to excel. This cause-driven organization involves members – from the very young to retired seniors – in a variety of programs that provide people of all ages, ethnicities, lifestyles and income levels with the opportunity to become stronger in spirit, mind and body. Programs include youth sports (aquatics, gymnastics, martial arts, basketball, boxing and more); family, adult and senior fitness; classes in the arts (dance, music and more); and programs such as Youth and Government, Counselor in Training, Service Learning and our Child Development Center.
